What is 1400 in military time?
1400 is 2:00 PM on the 12-hour clock, and 14:00 on the civilian 24-hour clock. It is spoken aloud as “fourteen hundred hours” — never “2 o'clock”, and never with a colon in the written form.
The hour is over 12, so subtract 12: 14 − 12 = 2, and the time is PM.
Written down it is four digits with no separator and no AM or PM: 1400. The first two digits are the hour, the last two are the minutes, and the minutes are ordinary minutes — 1445 would be 2:45 PM.
Where 1400 sits in the day
1400 is 14 hours into the day and 10 hours from the next midnight. In the watch system it falls in the afternoon watch, the first stretch where the 24-hour clock stops matching the 12-hour one. Everything after 1200 needs the subtract-12 rule, and this is the block where people new to the format make their first mistake.
