What is 0600 in military time?
0600 is 6:00 AM on the 12-hour clock, and 06:00 on the civilian 24-hour clock. It is spoken aloud as “zero six hundred hours” — never “6 o'clock”, and never with a colon in the written form.
The hour is under 12, so nothing is subtracted. 6 stays 6, and the time is AM.
Written down it is four digits with no separator and no AM or PM: 0600. The first two digits are the hour, the last two are the minutes, and the minutes are ordinary minutes — 0645 would be 6:45 AM.
Where 0600 sits in the day
0600 is 6 hours into the day and 18 hours from the next midnight. In the watch system it falls in the morning watch, the block that starts the working day. Reveille, first formation and shift handovers all land here, which is why these are the times most often written on a rota that someone has to read half awake.
